Yo Habito: Yo Transito

Yo Habito
The audiovisual part of the project, Yo Habito: Yo Transito, has been awarded a silver in the audio visual category by adg-fad
The intention of “Yo Habito” is to provoke everyone to discover their ideal of comfort in order to live and use up their space only with the essentials. When the individual reflects on how they feel comfortable, they will be able to get rid of the superfluous and rebuild their home from pieces they have created themselves.
Comfort, basic functions and the possibility of changing objects are the key concepts of the home I propose.
The user modifies his objects as many times as he wants, avoiding the need to buy new ones. All the pieces are made with a biodegradable thermoplastic that can be easily moulded.
“Yo Me Mudo” shows my arrival at an empty space where I shape the elements. The pieces I propose reflects to my own idea of comfort, and an example of what it would be like to live in a space with these characteristics. Living only with these new elements, our way of relating to the environment would not be the same. Life would be much more austere, we would return to the origins of the household.
“Yo Transito” ironically shows the passage of a person from one lifestyle to another.
I am interested in how the household has been evolving through times and the patterns of the domestic interior, in order to understand the current housing system and propose changes: removing the superfluous in order to live in a simpler way based on personal comfort.
I started by researching objects. I found a great variety of objects of all kinds: disposable, collectables, gadgets… typical products launched on the market to encourage consumption. Is this super abundance justified? Consumerism idealises the satisfaction achieved by buying certain products in order to generate fictitious needs in the population. All these unnecessary objects end up piling up in our homes, getting in the way.
Many homes have become a showroom of objects. We seem to have forgotten the true meaning of home. Home should be a refuge, not a storehouse.
My intention is not to propose a single valid system, but that everyone should reflect on the way they live, what objects they need and develop their own model. I invite you to strengthen personal relationships, which contribute more to our lives than a mountain of objects.
